Surface Hygiene Service reduces the transmission of surface-borne pathogens, including bacteria and viruses (i.e. H1N1 (Swine Flu), Anthrax, MRSA, and Norwalk) and assists with the elimination of airborne VOCs (formaldehyde, benzene, ozone, air pollution, etc.). These solutions are continuously-antiseptic (self-cleaning). ABS accomplishes this by applying a natural mineral-oxide photocatalytic coating to existing interior and exterior surfaces creating a durable, wear resistant surface. This technology effectively turns all coated surfaces into air scrubbers that also work to eliminate airborne pollution and contamination as air moves past and makes contact with treated surfaces.

 

How ABS VireoShield™ Photocatalytic Coatings Work

Surfaces are coated with an electrostatic application process that bonds an invisible nano-particle coating of Titanium Dioxide (Ti02), a naturally-occurring mineral oxide, that when exposed to UV light (natural or artificial), has the ability to oxidize any organic particle, and is up to 100% more powerful than bleach.

The photocatalytic-oxidation process works continuously to destroy bacteria, viruses, and VOCs, it is completely non-toxic creating “green” continuously-antiseptic (self-cleaning) surfaces.

The only byproduct of the oxidation process is water vapor and CO2 making for a revolutionary step forward in the battle against biological pathogens, i.e., MRSA, Gram Negative Bacteria, Ecoli, Norwalk, etc., and indoor-air pollution by eliminating VOCs, (Benzene, Formaldehyde, Ozone, etc.).

VireoShield,™ once applied, creates a durable coating that can last for years depending on the type of surface coated. This is possible because Ti02 works through photocatalytic oxidation, a process where nothing is “used up.” Therefore, the Ti02 coating is continuously charged by light, remaining in place and active until it is physically removed. So in asking the question, “How long will a coating last?” The answer depends on how the surface is used. Ultimately, coating life will be determined by how often a surface is touched, scraped or wiped.
